Too Tired to Cook a Healthy Dinner? Try Out Roasted Turkey Medallions

Dieting can be peculiar for anyone without the correct knowledge and guidance. Even I cannot pull myself together to cook a healthy and nutritious dinner after a long day at work and I am sure a large number of people on dieting routines face similar situations.

However, I have realized that there are diet friendly meals which can be easily cooked to get the same taste as conventional meals. Even you can try out different diet friendly meals and create a list so that you don’t have to order unhealthy food for dinner. You can customize the diet friendly meals with different toppings and garnishings while pairing them with preferable drinks and side dishes for a full course dinner with minimal effort.

The roasted turkey medallions offered by Nutrisystem are a good choice when you are craving the savory taste of turkey and mashed potatoes. This meal contains around 8 grams of total fat while providing 21 grams of protein, 2 grams of dietary fiber and 260 calories through a single serving. The dish mainly consists of turkey breast medallions, mashed potatoes and gravy.

The ingredients of pre-cooked turkey medallions are turkey breast meat, seasoning, modified corn starch, canola oil, sodium phosphate, carrageenan, paprika, salt, seasoning, natural flavoring and water. The mashed potatoes contain potato granules and flakes, milk solids, low sodium sea salt, water and below 2 percent of potassium chloride and granulated garlic.

The gravy contains chicken fat, chicken base, modified food starch, nonfat milk solids, water and below 2 percent of roast chicken flavor, powder of fermented soy sauce, granulated onion, caramel color, salt type flavor, spices, xanthan gum, granulated garlic along with lactic acid. You should further check the detailed ingredients on the website to avoid any allergic reactions.

The preparation method for this meal is extremely simple with the only requirement of heating the product till a temperature of 165F internally from a frozen state. It can be prepared using a microwave or oven although I prefer the former option. For preparing this meal using a microwave of 1100 watts, simply remove the tray from carton and make two slits of 1 inch in the film for allowing the heat to escape. Now put the tray in microwave and turn the microwave on at 100 percent power or HIGH mode for 3 minutes.

After this, peel back the film to stir each component then replace the film and cook for 2 more minutes. Let it stand for 1 minute, before removing the film and enjoying the meal. Using a conventional oven, first preheat the oven to 350F. Then remove the tray from carton and cut two slits of 1 inch and place the tray over a baking sheet. Bake for nearly 30 minutes, peel the film and stir. Then replace the film and bake for around 10 to 15 minutes. Finally, remove the tray from oven and enjoy. You should adjust the heating time depending on the appliance and handle the hot tray carefully while taking it out for stirring.

I enjoyed the taste of this filling meal however I personally felt that the gravy could have been a bit more in amount to enhance the experience. The mashed potatoes taste very similar to basic mashed potatoes while the turkey and gravy was immensely delicious. You can pair Nutrisystem’s Roasted Turkey Medallions with green beans, corn, peas, broccoli and other similar vegetables if you want to increase the volume of food.
